Melody of Longing

Plucking the strings
With those pink tipped chiselled fingers
The sleeping silent strings
Tuning them
To music so desired
Playing to pause
Then resume
Time and again
Back and forth
Like
Newly found
Or
Fading memories
The
Long
Lost
Delicious
Notes
Melodious to the spirit
But no knock at the door
In despair of endless expecting moments
Melody of longings
Lurking desires
Into sad lyrical tones blend
Before night descends

Lines inspired by a Rumi quote

‘In the lover’s heart is a lute which plays the melody of longing.’
